Touring Laurita Winery, one
will experience the harvesting of grapes from the vineyard, the
processing,
storing and bottling of award winning wines. The Laurita Vineyard
focuses on
making wines from grapes that appeal worldwide, concentrating on the
Vinifera,
the classic European noble varieties. From 1998 to 2000, the first 20
acres of
Chardonnay, Cabernet and Merlot were planted. In 2002, the second 20
acres of
vineyards received the cuttings for the Pinot Gris, Lemberger,
Chambourcin,
Norton and Zweigelt.
Laurita
Winery is more than a greenway vista
that overlooks hundreds of farm acres in the land preservation program,
it
operates on “green technology” with solar panels providing the
sustainable
clean energy source for its’ electrical power. With the addition of
Laurita
Winery, Plumsted Township’s agri-tourism industry will become one of
the
State’s most unique, ranging from fresh fruits and vegetables on the
U-Pic
farms to a blueberry U-Pic farm with freshly baked home-maid blueberry
pies to
horse and dairy farms to the grape vineyard and winery…all in
Plumsted.on more
than 3,000 acres of permanently preserved land.
The New Egypt area MOMS Club
President, Stephanie McMahon, would like to thank residents and participating
local businesses for a very successful “Pack the School Sack” project that
