Free Document Shredding Offered
|
|
|
|
The Township Committee and
our Main Street Organization have arranged for Plumsted residents, through
Guardian Document Destruction Co., a “free” document shredding opportunity on
Saturday, September 20th, from 9am to 12 noon in the parking lot of
the New Egypt Market Place,
Main Street,
New Egypt. The free shredding does have a limit of no more than 10 “banker
boxes” per household (no commercial businesses).
The Township and our Main
Street Executive Director have been engaged in discussions with the Exxon
Corporation’s Regional Distribution representative, Dan Francis, who has
advised that Exxon has decided to continue the use of the Main Street, New Egypt property as a gas
station. Exxon has not yet made a decision on whether the gas station will be
operated by an independent dealer or Exxon, who is scaling back on their retail
business nationwide. The Main
Street gas station is expected to re-open later
this Fall.
The multi-million dollar new
WaWa store with 24/7 gasoline service had ground breaking on August 4th
at their Route 539 and 528 intersection location and, according to the project
engineer, are on schedule for construction to be completed in three to four
months. Quite possibly, the grand opening could occur prior to the Christmas
Holidays. Motorists will be advised in advance of the reconstruction of this
intersection for major traffic safety improvements scheduled for late October
or early November.
Lieutenant George Titko, of
the Plumsted Police Department, advises that the Speed Monitor Display unit is
available upon request from residents and neighborhoods that may be
experiencing violations of posted limits. To schedule the speed monitor on your
street / neighborhood, please call the Police Department at 758-3737.
One of the most popular and
best attended events this Summer has been the return of “Cruz Nites,” featuring
the display of classic and antique cars, to the New Egypt Downtown Main Street, on the
second Thursday of each month. The final “Cruz Nite” for this Summer is
September 11th (6 to 9 pm).
Local businesses, who may
have an interest in providing their services or supplies to the Township, are
encouraged to contact Plumsted’s Finance Office (609-758-2241 x 113) to be
qualified for placement on the quote and bid call sheet list.
Residents are reminded and
encouraged to attend the Township’s Council for the Arts Summer events in
Downtown New Egypt. The next event is, “After Katrina,” featuring photos, food
and music of New Orleans on Friday, August 22nd,
at the Welcome Center, 31 Main Street from 7 to 9pm.
The Township’s Recycling Center
will be closed on Saturday, August 30, in observance of the Labor Day Holiday
weekend.
The next regularly scheduled public meetings with
the new administration of Township Committee members Dave Leutwyler,
Steve Reed, Eric Sorchik, Deputy Mayor Mike McCue and Mayor Ron Dancer
is Wednesday, September 3rd
at
8:00 P.M.
