Ocean Ride Bus Service For Plumsted
|
|
|
|
With gasoline prices in the
$4 range, Ocean County’s
“Ocean Ride” bus service for Plumsted
Township residents on
Tuesdays and Thursdays is welcomed relief for many, especially senior citizens.
The Ocean Ride bus service has stops at: 9:45am at Jensen’s Deep Run Community
Club House (returns 2:25pm); 9:48am at Town Hall / Library parking lot, 121
Evergreen Road (returns 2:22pm); 9:51am at various Downtown retail stores and
business establishments (returns 2:19pm); 9:54am at the Recreation Park on
Brindletown Road (returns 2:16pm); 9:56am at the Post Office on North Main
Street (returns 2:13pm).
The Ocean Ride bus route service provides
transportation not only to and from locations within Plumsted
Township, but to locations outside
Plumsted, yet within Ocean
County, such as, the
Ocean County Mall. The fare for seniors is 25 cents and the general public 50
cents. For more information and a complete listing of the entire Ocean Ride bus
route for Tuesdays and Thursdays, please call the Ocean County Transportation
Services Department toll free number 877-929-2082.
The soon to be built
multi-million dollar new WaWa store with 24/7 gas service is expected to have
ground breaking in August at their Route 539 and 528 intersection location. As
a result, there will also be extensive intersection construction improvements
for public safety with new paving replacing the rough and patched section along
Potter’s Square shopping plaza.
The Ocean County Engineering
Department has notified Plumsted that the major portion of the intersection
reconstruction improvements will take place after the height of the seasonal
shore traffic period, during the months of October and November. Due to the
extensive reconstruction of the Route 539 and 528 intersection, the County has
also informed Plumsted that for most of the intersection reconstruction,
alternate single lanes of traffic would be utilized to keep the intersection
open. However, there would be a period of about two weeks when a detour onto other
County routes would be in effect and necessary.
Following the improvements
to the County Route 539 and 528 intersection, the Ocean County Engineering
Department also has plans to begin similar extensive intersection
reconstruction improvements for public safety at the County Route 539 and 537
intersection.
The filing deadline is
August 15 for the Homestead Rebate check Program for homeowners and tenants.
Mobile home owners may also qualify. The deadline for senior and disabled
homeowners to file their Homestead Rebate Check and Senior Property Tax Freeze
applications has also been extended to August 15. More information can be
obtained by calling the Tax Collector’s office at 609-758-2241 ext. 120.
