Town Talk
Grant To Fund ElevatorBy Mayor Ron
Dancer February 18, 2002
Deputy Mayor Joe Przywara recommended and the Township
Committee approved submitting a grant application to obtain $125,000 in
Community Development Block Grant funding to purchase and install an
elevator to provide barrier free accessibility to the basement of our new
Municipal Building for a Senior Citizen meeting / activity room. Since the
early 1990's, Joe Przywara has been instrumental in obtaining more than
$500,000 in grants from this program to benefit our Community, which has helped
the Township Committee maintain a stable local tax rate for the past 13 years,
which includes our introduced Budget for 2002.
A grant application has been submitted by our Director of
Public Safety, Peter Weinrich, to the State Department of Transportation to
fund a computer Crash Reporting System to create accident reports, including
diagrams, using laptop computers in the police vehicle at the scene.
A late fee of an additional $5.00 will be enforced
March 1st for the purchase of 2002 dog licenses. Township
Committeewoman Ada Roberts, our liaison to Senior Affairs, proposed and the
Committee approved a 50% discount reduction in local Dog license fees for all
Senior Citizens in Plumsted Township.
The Township Committee would like to open the recycling
center on Wednesday afternoons and needs a supervisor. Anyone interested in a
part time job for their Community, please contact the Township. Free Wood Chips
are now available to Plumsted residents at our branch and leaf recycling
drop-off site on Magnolia Avenue on Saturday mornings as long as the supply
lasts.
The next regularly scheduled meeting and citizen comment
period with Township Committee members Ken Francis, Ada Roberts, Bonnie Quesnel
and Deputy Mayor Joe Przywara is February 25th. Residents can
