The Plumsted Radio Control racing team was created
in September of 2001. The Racing Team was a concept of the Director of Public
Safety and is part of the Plumsted Police Department's efforts to reach out to
the community and interact with the youth in town. Thanks to a donation from AV
decks in Jackson we purchased the Stampede truck. AV Decks also donated the
Ford 150 that the owner built when he was younger. The Director of Public
Safety purchased the Dodge 4X4 Durango as a Ford kit and installed the Durango
body on it. It is assembled and painted to look like the full size Dodge
Durango the Police Department purchased in 2001 it is a true 4X4.
The
Police Department provides the racing team trucks for special appearances with
various organizations. We participate in such events as "Race the Cops" nights
where anyone can race against our drivers. We provide an opportunity for less
fortunate kids to race an R/C truck by allowing them to race using the team
trucks.
