Police and Prosecutor Share Services

The Township Committee is authorizing additional Shared Services Agreements with the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office. Ocean County led the State in traffic related fatalities in 2009. For 2010, a new shared services program is being offered to reduce the traffic fatalities in Ocean County municipalities, known as, "The Prosecutor's Program."
Under the Prosecutor's Program, special details of DWI Checkpoints and other traffic enforcement activities will be organized utilizing Plumsted Police Officers with Prosecutor's Office for the purpose assisting in the investigation, prosecution of fatal accidents, traffic enforcement and education. Plumsted's Police Officers will be paid money secured through a grant from the Ocean
County Board of Chosen Freeholders and the State of New Jersey.
Senior Programs and Events

Plumsted's Senior Outreach Services (SOS) organization's monthly community meeting program, on
Wednesday, March 10th, will feature two guest speakers. Ann Marie O'Niel, from Senior Seminar Services, will speak about changes in tax laws affecting seniors. Also speaking will be Plumsted's Fire Marshall Joseph Paolo, on the topic of home fire safety. The Senior Citizen meeting and activities room is located on the lower level of the Municipal Building, 121 Evergreen Road, New Egypt. Refreshments are served and for more information call: 609-758-2241 ext. 111.
The Senior Pizza Lunch and Movie Day is scheduled for Friday, March 19th, from 12:00 noon to 3:00 PM in Plumsted's Senior Citizen meeting and activities room.
The cost is $5 and pre-registration is needed (seating is limited) by March 10th.

Gypsy Moth Program Briefing

The State Department of Agriculture's official for the Gypsy Moth Suppression Program, Joseph Zoltowski, will be conducting an informational briefing for residents of Plumsted Township on
Wednesday, March 3rd at 7:00 PM in the Municipal Building's meeting room, 121 Evergreen Road. Residents, especially with gypsy moth concerns, are encouraged to attend.
Public Hearing on Fire Taxes
Voters rejected the amount of taxes to raise as proposed by the Fire Commission on
Saturday, February 20th. Pursuant to State Law, the Township Committee has advertised that a public hearing will be held on the matter
Wednesday, March 3rd at 8:00 PM in the Municipal Building's meeting room, 121 Evergreen Road. Prior to the Township Committee determining and voting to reduce the amount of taxes to be raised, a public comment period will be held.
Snow Clearing and Parking
In the Downtown New Egypt business commercial zone and all areas within the one mile walking distance to schools, property owners and / or tenants are required to clear sidewalks of snow
within 12 hours of daylight after snow fall ends.
During snowstorms with accumulations that require snow plowing, it is unlawful for homeowners to remove snow from their private property and place it onto public roads, including the use of snow-blower machinery.
It is unlawful to discharge water from any source onto sidewalks or streets during freezing temperatures with the result being ice that creates a public safety hazard.
