Free Home Repairs Program Offered

Free
exterior home repairs for low income homeowners in Plumsted Township will be one
of numerous programs and services to be offered when the Township Committee
formally endorses, at its’ March 3rd public meeting, a partnership
with Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity, based in Toms River, Ocean County.
Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity, using the
principles of Habitat For Humanity International, is a non-profit Christian
housing ministry organization that embraces people of all faiths working in
partnership with low-income households to improve their homes, as well as, to
build decent, affordable housing.
According to
Susan Fichtner, Executive Director of Northern Ocean Habitat for Humanity, one
of the more recent new programs being offered is “Brush With Kindness’, a
locally operated program to provide free exterior home repairs to low-income
homeowners. Repairs include, but are not limited to, painting, landscaping and
other minor repairs. The home repairs are directed by trained crew leaders and
completed by Habitat For Humanity Volunteers.
Homes will
be selected throughout the year and are based upon family circumstances,
condition of the home and financial qualification. For more information, Plumsted Township residents may call the Northern

Mobile Services Bus

The mobile Ocean County Connection Office Bus will be in Plumsted Township on
Monday, March 1st, 2010, at the Plumsted Branch of the Ocean County Library, 119 Evergreen Road, from 1pm to 3pm. The County Connection provides information, assistance and services directly to the people on location, rather than, the people traveling to Toms River. Among the services are: application processing of passports; photo I.D.’s; senior and veteran services, and much more. Residents are encouraged to utilize this service to ensure its’ continuation in Plumsted Township.

Planning Board Seat Available
|
Plumsted’s Planning/Land Use Board has a vacancy and the Township Committee is seeking local residents with an interest in serving to submit a letter or resume to the Municipal Clerk’s office for consideration. Free Family Fun Day
The Fifth Annual Family Fun Day, sponsored by Plumsted Township’s
Municipal Alliance Against Drug and Alcohol Abuse, The New Egypt Elks and ADACO
(Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council of Ocean County), is being held on Saturday,
February 27, from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm at the New Egypt Elks Lodge, 111 Lakewood Rd. (Rt. 528). The event and
food is free and is a great opportunity for parents and children to have fun and
reinforce family values. Free IDs for children, games, prizes, fatal vision
