A MESSAGE FROM THE TAX COLLECTOR

Dear Property Owner:

Your 2009-2010 tax bill has a tax rate increase of two (2) cents to the Municipal portion of the property tax bill.  The 2009 Municipal budget of $3,615,000 was adopted by the Plumsted Township Committee with a reduction in spending by $78,000 from last year’s $3,693,000 adopted budget.  The increase, from 9 cents to 11 cents per $100 assessed valuation ($77 on average), was to primarily restore the loss of $147,000 in State Aid from the Governor’s 2009 and 2010 State Fiscal Year Budgets.  The School, County and Fire Commission taxes reflect an approximate 5 cent increase with this year’s total tax rate of 1.485 per $100 of assessed valuation.
