Wrightstown considers building new boroughcouncilBy Bob Vosseller Friday, January 21, 2000 10:11 AM Wrightstown Mayor Jozef Farago announced that on the council's wish list, was a new Borough Hall and fire house. The mayor asked that all council members "come up with some recommendations" regarding the two long range projects for the borough. Mayor Farago expressed that he wanted to get feedback from the council on "budgetary" issues connected to the proposed projects. "We have had a very successful year in 1999. I expect our industrial park will be coming forward in the coming months," Mayor Farago said. The mayor was happy to report that the industrial campus which had a ground breaking last month already has a "potential client from the high tech center. They wish to build here. It would involve some trucking and sofware distribution. Very clean stuff which is just what we want." Mayor Farago said that as for the two capital improvement projects of a new fire house to replace the aging one and the Borough Hall trailer facility currently in use, "our economic committee should meet with our professionals and our new advisor. They should meet with them on a weekly or monthly basis." In other news the council agreed to follow up on an application to join the Burlington County Electric Co-Op which would provide the borough with a cost savings. Councilpresident Thomas Harper said that "we faxed them over information saying we wanted to join it so I'm sure we'll hear back from them soon." Councilman Costic Borsavage explained the reason he missed the January 2 reorganization meeting of the Borough Council. The councilman was busy along with Borough Fire Chief ___________ out of state inspecting the Borough Fire Company's new fire truck. "I felt as a member of the council and the fire company, that took precedence." Councilman Borsavage added that he expects the new pumper to arrive from Louisianna to the borough by February, possibly by the council regular session next month. Councilpresident Harper recommended that Borough Clerk Donna Snyder work up a "one page pre-application form that would explain to those seeking permits or variances a check list. Something simple. This would direct them to the proper paperwork that is required. We need something in writing that will be right there for them." Council members also discussed moving the community's recycling center to property at the Municipal Utilities Authority. "Where we have the center now was a temporary site 12 years ago. We now have the room in the MUA. We want to get it away from the park," Councilpresident Harper said. "Could we relocate the fencing so it could be done in house?" Councilman Brian Sperling asked. "We could explore all the ways this could be done," Councilpresident Harper replied. "The cost of fencing is a lot as we've seen from the quotes we got (last year) for the basketball court project. Do we even need to fence it in?" Councilman Sperling added. Mayor Farago and Councilpresident Harper strongly recommended that the center be fenced in. During the session all mercantile licenses were reviewed and approved for renewal. |
