A group of 25 underprivileged boys, grades 1-6, will experience the thrill of auto racing up-close and live on Saturday, July 3 at the New Egypt Speedway, as guests of the International Masonry Institute (IMI).

IMI, a labor/management trust of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, is the primary sponsor of the holiday weekend racing activities at New Egypt, featuring the Big Bang 40 for Modifieds and a spectacular display of fireworks to cap off the night. As part of the organization’s sponsorship package, IMI is donating 25 VIP tickets to Omega 13, a Lakewood NJ, group that mentors boys from underprivileged homes, providing help with school and life problems and arranging chaperoned trips and events for the children.

“The kids will be thrilled to see their first stock car race,” said Thomas Ross, Omega 13’s group director. “This is really great and we thank IMI.” IMI is also an associate sponsor of Kenny Brightbill’s “We Build for Life” #19 Modified, and his son, Keith’s, Sportsman car, both of which race weekly at the New Egypt Speedway. The union group, which has a regional training center in Bordentown, will award trophies to the July 3 feature winners. “Hopefully, they’ll be Brightbills!” said IMI’s Local 5 President Glen Garman.

Another July 3 sponsor, Art’s Radiator of Flemington, will award racing radiators to one lucky top finisher in all three divisions.
