Town Talk
Picnic pavilion grantBy Mayor Ron Dancer March 9,
2000
Deputy Mayor Joe Przywara has submitted a community development
grant application to construct a restroom facility at our Recreation Park next
to the Outdoor Pavilion Picnic area.
The Deputy Mayor has been very instrumental in grant dollars
from the county and federal governments.
Our Construction Official, Ed Dreschel, will provide the public
with office hours on Wednesday and Thursday mornings from 9 to 10 a.m., in
addition to Wednesday evening hours of 5 to 7 p.m. For more information
regarding building permits and inspections, please call our Construction Office
Secretary, Monica Raulf at 758-1517.
Township Committee members Ken Francis, Bonnie Quesnel, Mike
Roberts and Deputy Mayor Joe Przywara have approved an ordinance to consolidate
the zoning and planning board into one municipal land use board.
Recently, the state passed legislation authorizing
municipalities under 10,000 to consolidate zoning and planning boards.
Plumsted's population is 7,054 people.
Not only is the consolidation cost effective and saves taxpayers
dollars, but moreover, with just one board the process is streamlined,
simplified and provides greater convenience to the public in making decisions
to one board. Applications will no longer be sent from one board to another,
which costs everyone time and money.
The next meeting of the township committee is March 13.
