The North Hanover Township Committee is spearheading a local
campaign to support Senate Bill S-850 and Assembly Bill-A-1944, which would
reverse all of the cuts in Revenue Sharing of the past six years.
The legislation is sponsored by 9th District Legislators Sen.
Leonard Connors and Assemblyman Christopher Conners. As stated in the township
resolution to Governor Whitman, "state revenues since 1994 have increased by
almost $4 billion; and inflation and the so-called "Pension Offset" have
reduced the value of State Revenue Sharing to all municipalities by over $300
million during this same period.
We think this legislation helps to rectify an inequity that NJ
municipalities are facing. North Hanover officials are urging residents to pick
up, fill out and send in special postcards to the Governor urging support for
the legislation. The post cards can be picked up at the North Hanover Township
Hall. |
