Fire consumed two trailers and injured firemen during two separate fires at North Hanover Township trailer parks on Monday.

A trailer estimated at $20,000 was destroyed after its heater malfunctioned around 4:30 a.m. at Lee's Trailer Park on Cookstown New Egypt Road. Firefighters from New Egypt, Jacobstown, Cookstown and McGuire Air Force Base fire companies doused the blaze with 16,000 gallons of water before bringing it under control at 5:15 a.m. according to a report from Jacobstown Fire Company Chief Dave Gindlesperger.

The trailer was being prepared for occupnay but the fire was deemed to be accidental. A Wrightstown fireman suffered first-degree burns on his cheek and ear at an 11:06 a.m. fire at the Spartan Village trailer park on Wrighstown-Sykesville Road.

The unidentified fireman was among a group of firefighters who were caught in a flashover on the front porch during the initial attack, according to Chief Gindlesperger. The fireman received treatment at Virtua Health - Memorial hospital of Mount Holly and was later released.

The trailer, estimated to be worth $25,000 was destroyed after 13,500 gallons of water on it. Two nearby trailers suffered about $3,500 in damage. Siding melted off the trailers as five surrounding fire companies combatted the blaze which was rendered under control by 12:15 p.m. Firemen from Jacobstown, Wrightstown, Chesterfield, Crosswicks, Cookstown, Jobstown, Fort Dix and McGuire Air Force fought the blaze. Forutnatley the occupants of the trialer were not home when the fire started.
