It hardly seems possible that New Egypt's web site has
been up and running for over one year now. Thank you for sharing in our
success. Over the past year, New Egypt's web site has grown into a very special
little web site. Averaging over 8,000 visitors a month, New Egypt's web site
has had a tremendous impact on the exposure of our community on the Internet.
In fact over 75% of all our web traffic was generated from Internet search
engines.
While we've had many visitors from outside of our
community, we believe that our success lies within in New Egypt and it's
surrounding area. In an effort to understand what are our community needs and
what is required to make New Egypt's web site the "Main Street" for our
community, Main Streets has been funding the New Egypt's Web Site since last
June. From our inception, we've tried to eliminate the difficulties and costs
associated with the Internet and managing web sites. Now more than ever, the
number of people using the Internet is growing at tremendous rates, especially
those using the net to make purchases. According to a study conducted by Arthur
Andersen LLP, Chicago, electronic commerce (e-commerce) will be essential by
the year 2003. It's not a matter of if; it is a matter of when. With nearly 25%
of households on line now and growing at a rate of 7 households per seconds, we
need to ensure that our community is ready for this extraordinary opportunity.
