New Egypt Elks Lodge #2457 will be taking part in the Annual Flag Day Ceremony to be held at Beverly National Cemetery on June 13, 1999. The general public is invited to attend this very impressive ceremony. All Lodges in the Southwest District will take part in the services which will begin at 11am The Order of Elks is dedicated to honoring the flag and the veterans who have given their life to defend it, as well as those who are confined to hospitals and nursing homes. The mandate "AS LONG AS THERE IS ONE VETERAN IN A HOSPITAL, THEY WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN" is practiced by every Elk Lodge in the country. The celebration of Flag Day is one of the many services provided by all Elks Lodges each year. The Exalted Ruler, Mary Schoettmer, is the Chief Operating Officer of New Egypt Lodge and with the help of other Chair Officers, is responsible for the day to day operation of the Lodge. It is also her duty to see that the mandates of the Grand Lodge are carried out. The Elks is a charitable organization and second only to the US Government in granting scholarships to our nations youth. They help and support the handicapped children, veterans, our community's youth and many more worth causes New Egypt Elks Take 5 Awards in Wildwood New Egypt Elks Lodge #2457 was recognized for it's excellence at the State Convention by receiving 5 awards. The Lodge came in 4th place for their float, 3rd place Best Overall, 2nd place for it's Marching Band Unit (Allentown High School Band) and 4th place for Public Relations. All of these awards were on the State level competing with 130 other Lodges. New Egypt Lodge also picked up a 3rd place award for their Bulletin. This award was given within the division of under 500 members. District winners will be announced on June 27th. |
