The Plumsted Branch of the Ocean County Library System is hosting a great reading program throughout the summer. It is called Bugworks. This countywide reading program is open to all non-readers and adults. Parents need to register their children for this program.. When the first five books are read, boys and girls will be given a Bugworks Reading Program certificate. They will also receive a bug sticker to place on their very own butterfly card. Thereafter, every five books read, a bug sticker will be handed out. All the butterfly cards are located on the back wall in the meeting room. Children's names appear on these cards as well as their ages. They are also in order so parents can find them easily. This Fantastic Bugworks wall is truly colorful. Numerous pictures of bugs are displayed on this wall. There is no deadline for this reading program. It runs from June to August. As per Barbara Simons, Circulation Supervisor, "245 people have signed up." There are also summer activities in the library. According to Simons, "A lot of these activities are related to the Bugworks theme, but you don't have to be signed up in the Bugworks program to register for these activities." The next activity is "What's Bugging You?" sponsored by the Ocean County Parks System. It will be held Monday, July 12 at 2 p.m. All ages are welcome. There is plenty of room available. Another activity in July is a Duet Production of the Wizard of Oz. This event will be held on Monday, July 19 at 7 p.m. For more information on the summer reading program and/or summer activities, call the Plumsted Library at #609-758-7888. |
